What is crabgrass?
One of the most common weeds that grow on lawns across the word is crabgrass. Ah what a nightmare! The seed of crabgrass generally germinates at the time when the soil of your lawn has warmed up quite well. This would mean around the time of mid or late spring to the early time of the summer season. The temperature of the soil will be around 55 to 66 degrees for at least a week for the crabgrass to sprout. While during the warmer regions it can sprout as early as in the month of February.
Crabgrass is not good for our lawns as it weakens the turf around which it grows with its root toxins and covers up the grass within a circular patch. Crabgrass usually grows annually and it will only grow during the on season and it dies off as soon as the season has dropped off.
